In a world were people move more often, changes looks, changes work and easily can fake ID’s faster than ever before, knowing who you are actually dealing with needs top priority. You need to know the facts. It is as simple as that. Every day you can read in the papers about young boys or girls being sexually harrased or even used by their teachers, soccer teachers or other trusted people. Recently there were an incident in Atlanta where a young girl of only thirteen year old had sexual intercourse with her swimming trainier. It had happened regularly over the period of six months and what she thought was love was basically only her being used over and over again by a 42 year old man who was previously convicted, no less than, three times for some kind of sexual relation to young girls. One can say a lot about situations like these. The girl did it of free will etc and was not raped or forced to do anything but the swimming teacher clearly mis-used his trust as a personal trainer to get what he wanted from this girl.
A small - two minute - search online could have prevented it all from happening!
Another situation where doing paid or free background checks can be very clever is when buying used cars from either private persons or used-car-salesmen. While the "used car business" has improved a great deal over the last years, there is a reason while people still think of fat 50-something men with an open Hawaii shirt, gold necklaces and greasy hair. There are a lot of scammers and fraudsters in the business.
I know first hand as one of my friends used to be one of them. Now he is behind bars him self as he always scammed people and did it for years. Most people never noticed but in the end his bad biz caught up with him and got him nine months behind bars. He changed the odometer, he falsed the papers, he taped over rusty parts then sparyed them with paint and sold them to older people who couldn’t see to well in his dark garage. He was, and still is, the nicest person you could ever think of. He is charming, gentle and kind but I would NEVER do business with him ever.
He has been convicted for odo-meter fraud once in the past so a quick online search could also in this case have saved a lot of people a lot of trouble.
Whenever there is money involved, or the safety of your kids, always do a thourough background check.
